Profiles of Excellence Awarded to ASB

“Profiles of Excellence” is an Emmy Award-winning series produced by the ABC7 Public Affairs Department to celebrate the Bay Area’s rich cultural diversity. For the past 22 years, the program has been featuring local residents who have made important contributions to the community. In 2010, Ayako Takahashi was honored by Channel 7 “Profiles of Excellence” for her continued dedication in bringing art and culture to Bay Area Youth. She has been a professional ballerina, a dance instructor and choreographer, and has brought the art of ballet to local communities for over 20 years.

In her acceptance speech, Ayako talked about the studio, and all of the students who dance there each day. She considers herself fortunate to have so many good students, and is grateful for the energy with which they dance. It is their very energy that keeps her teaching each day.

As she stood in front of other award recipients, friends and families, she accepted her honor on behalf of Ayako School of Ballet and each student she has the pleasure of teaching. “Dance makes you happy – it really makes your body alive”. Congratulations Ayako, for this well-deserved recognition! And congratulations to the entire school for sharing your love of dance with Ayako. This award is also for you.
